The weight of depression

Depression affects women twice as many women as men and knowing from my own continuous battle with depression , it is the worst state to be in.Everything feels meaningless and life seems to have no motive.According to the latest stats , by the year 2010 , depression will be the 2nd biggest health problem in the United States.

One of the biggest downfalls of depression is that the person suffering does not acknowledge it and others around them may also not help them with this acceptance.Unforunately , most people who have not suffered depression usually expect you to " just snap out of it " . If only it was that easy.

But there is an upside , depression is very much treatable and there are different techniques which can be used such as :

Therapy
Medication
Regular exercise (Including relaxatio techniques like yoga)
Meditation
Engaging in personal hobbies
Being Socially active.

Another way which I found very helpful was through "Self Help" through a program which uses no therapy or drugs and simply point us to the causes of depression and how we can battle it all on our own.True to its name "The Self Steps Program " helps you take baby steps towards lessening the weight of depression.
